A 6 year old taking antibiotics for strep throat developed herpes of the mouth. Talking with the grandmother she implied this type of herpes is not contagious? She indicated that her grandsons outbreak was caused by an antibiotic? True? A person who has stuffed all of her life w/them, I was informed when I think I m having a breakout to stay away from children, if around adults wash hands, and wipe down surfaces touched?

Hello, As per your history, it may be due to respiratory tract infection. For further assessment you may require complete hemogram, throat swab after pediatrician consultation. For fever you can give syp acetaminophen. He may require antibiotics after consultation and investigate. Keep him hydrated. Watch for symptoms like high grade fever, breathing difficulty.
