Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a sunburn over about half of my back and it s peeling and now feels wet and more raw than the rest of my body, burned actress areas included. I ve been applying aloe vera to the areas and it feels like it s tightening the areas not moisturizing them. Please help!
Sunburns presenting as severe rashes or blisters or peeling of skin may not be reduced by plain aloe vera and other soothing agents. The excess inflammation and allergy should be reduced with anti-inflammatory agents like mild cortico steroids like Fluticasone or hydrocortisone cream should be applied to the affected areas.
Sunscreen should be regularly applied half an hour before stepping out and also should be reapplied every 3 hours to maintain the UV protection. Soothing agents can be used once a day or whenever required to reduce any discomfort.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
