Suggest Treatment For Swallowing Difficulty Post Mild Injury To Throat

Hello, last saturday i had an accident on a wave runner. The handlebar hit me in the throat. At first I was able to speak and swallow normally. over the next two hours though I lost my voice and had a little difficulty swallowing. I went to a local hospital where the ER Doctor had a CT scan done. The CT showed no fractures, dislocations or air bubble where they were not supposed to be. The doctor told me my voice was due to swelling of vocal cords and possibly the nerve that controls them. He recommended that i give it 3-5 days for the swelling to go down and if it didnt to see a local ENT. My question is does this sound right to wait the 3-5 days or should I get into an ENT quicker? What would they do at this point? Thanks

Hello,

As you explain the situation yes you should see an ENT specialist and he/she will do to you a laryngoscopy procedure to evaluate better the upper airways.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
