Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Bruising Of The Wrist

Hi, I am a member of an archery club and this evening I hit my arm with the string on the bow without and arm guard and I have burst a fairly large vein in my left wrist, there is a large bruise, swelling and blood unde the skin, what should I do, I've used basic first aid to slow the bleed and swelling with ice

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that there is hematoma formation and bruising due to rupture of blood vessel due to hitting with the string and it does not seems to be very deep and extensive..
There is accumulation of blood in the soft tissues from the ruptured blood vessels..
I would suggest you to continue applying ice over the bruised and swollen area..
You can take anti inflammatory painkiller like Advil or Motrin in case if you have pain..
You can apply Heparin gel as it helps in faster disruption of blood.
In case if swelling keeps on increasing and there is no improvement consult a General Surgeon and get evaluated..
