Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Bruising On The Foot
I broke my 3rd & 4th metatarsals almost 6 weeks ago. A murphy bed frame collapsed on my outer calf, slid down across my ankle and came to rest across my foot. I ve been in an air cast, non-weight bearing on crutches ever since. I have my 6wk xray on Monday, but my foot is still VERY bruised and still swollen. The bruises on my calf and ankle are almost faded away, but my foot looks worse. Is this normal part of the healing process? Susan
Some advice that I can give to you is:
- use vitamin K cream for the local treatment
- do not move the affected area to avoid further damage
- use anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen in case of pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
