Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Bruising On The Leg After Injury

My father is 77 years old. Last December he fell and broke his femur. Since then, both of his legs have swollen and now one of them is turning red and slightly blue. He has smoked for 50 years. HIs Doc has him on Lasix and compression socks but they don t seem to be helping. I am afraid he will lose his foot if this continues. Thoughts?
