Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Itching Around Insect Bite On Hand

I got a bite, which is 2 punctures, so looks like centipede, on the side of my hand. I put a bandage with baking soda/water and it seemed to receive swelling and itching but after taking bandage off the swelling and itching and redness came back. Put a bandage back on with the baking soda and water mixture. What should i do. It s been about 32 hours. Thanks you for your help, Tom

Hello Tom,

Thanks for posting in HCM.

It is unfortunate to note that you have got bitten on hand by insect which looks like centipede.
Since you have already done some things for that and it has not responded so well, kindly do the following, which will help you to recover well.
1. Wash the bite area twice daily using mild antiseptic like Savlon.
2. Apply ice packs to reduce pain and swelling.
3. Take anti-inflammatory and analgesic combination like Ibuprofen + Paracetamol tablets twice a day after food for 5 days to reduce pain and inflammation.
4. Take Tablet.Levocetrizine 10 mg once a day for 5 days to reduce allergic reactions and itching.
5. Keep the hand elevated as much as possible.
6. Apply Calamine lotion to reduce the swelling.

Keep the wound open, clean and dry. You need to take care that it doesn't get infected.
