Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Pain In Finger Post Injury
I hit my pointer finger into the steering wheel hard. Now it s swollen, I can barely move it, but I can somewhat bend/move it, however it s excruciating pain. My finger looks a little darker then the rest, but is not black and blue. Do I ice it or heat it? Should I wrap it? What if it is broken or fractured?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain it seems that due to hitting the finger there has been soft tissue injury leading to swelling and pain and darkening is due to blood accumulation from ruptured blood vessels into soft tissues.. You also need to get an x ray of the finger done to rule out for any bony fractures.. In case of fracture reduction and fixation can be done.. In case if there is only soft tissue injury you should do cool compresses or icing the finger.. Apply analgesic gel containing Diclofenac. Take Ibuprofen to reduce swelling and pain.. Do moderate movements of the finger to prevent stiffness..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards, Honey Nandwani Arora.
