Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Redness In Toes

My little toe is red and more swelled up than yesterday. When I lay down barefoot it feels fine but then when I get up to walk it is very painful for awhile until it loosens up and then I can walk ok. The redness started right in the crack between my toes and now covers the whole first toe and part of the second. can I soak it with something?

Oncologist 's  Response
Hello,

When the side or corner of a toenail grows into the flesh of the toe, it's called an ingrown toenail. Ingrown toenails cause swelling, pain, and redness. Ingrown toenails can also become infected. Treatment: If your toe is infected — or at risk of infection — your doctor might prescribe an antibiotic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Esmeralda Sera, Oncologist
