Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Soreness In Uvula And Throat

I had shoulder surgery on Thursday. That night my uvula and throat were very swollen and sore. Today is Saturday my uvula is still enlarged and brown at the tip. No one seems very concerned (dr) but it hurts quite a bit and is more bothersome than my actual surgery at this point

Hi. Sorry to hear about your problem.
So far as asore uvula is concerned , first of all lets make it clear that it may be a separate event or arose during intubation if you were given general anaesthesia during surgery due to trauma during the procedure of intubation. You have undergone a surgery so you must be under the cover of broad spectrum injectable antibiotics so far . Thats why i don't think that you may need any further antibiotic therapy. However you may need to discuss the option of taking some anti-inflamatory agent for symptomatic relief. If further needed you may consider visiting an ENT doctor to get further advice. Wishing you best of health.
Regards
