Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Tenderness In The Foot Post Injury

Hi, six days ago I was playing baseball and got hit on my leg about 5 inches above my inside ankle on my right leg. It swelled up dramatically right away so I iced it but there was no real pain so I kept playing. By monday I had quite a bit of bruising and now I still have swelling and have bruises near the bottom of my foot and some swelling and tenderness there too despite not having an injury there. My question is. Is this normal? Other than icing it is there anything else I should do

Hi,
Thanks for coming to HealthCareMagic

From your description, the symptoms point out to that you may have suffered a contusion to your leg. You are required to consult a doctor if there is any associated severe pain, increase in the swelling; for proper examination and management.
Otherwise, you are requested to make use of some precautionary measures like:
1. Do not massage over the affected area.
2. you are required to give rest to that area from further trauma.
3. Can apply a light bandage or a wrap to give compression
4. keep your elevated above the level of your heart
If a hematoma has build up, it is bound to go away in a few days time. Else it may be required a surgical drainage if it causes pain.

Hope I was able to answer your query.

Thank you
