Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 58 year old, lifetime athletic male of appropriate weight. Over the last 2 years, red and brown spots and areas have begun forming on both legs, but primarily the left leg, with swelling in the calf and ankle on the left primarily. I have also noticed frequent cramping of the calf muscle. Close inspection reveals some surface level veins, possibly vericose. Is this of great concern, or a natural process of aging and being on my feet a lot (I am a trial attorney). They do not hurt when I run or exercise.
In my opinion, it would be better for you to do some lab test a check up to control the renal and heart function. Please discuss with your doctor for this. Usually the superficial veins don’t cause swelling.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
