Suggest Treatment For Swelling In Finger After Insulin Needle Prick
Hi, My dog has diabetes and after i gave her, her insulin, the needle stuck right in my finger. Right after that my finger immediately got big and puffy. When i straighten my finger out it feels like im tearing something. It s throbbing hasnt stopped yet. What should i do?
You seem to be having a contusion out of needle prick. Do cold compresses or ice packs to the finger for 8-10 min several times a day. Do not tie any tight bandage. Rest the finger. Keep the finger elevated. Take tab. Ibuprofen for 3 days. Take tab. Pantop before food for 3 days.
If the swelling doesn't come down even after 4-5 days or if it increases in size, tingling and numbness of fingers and inability to move the finger then please go to an orthopedic doctor for further evaluation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
