Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Cheeks And Lips
My daughter is 24 years old and has swelling to her left cheek and lip for more than 8 weeks and has been to multiple doctors and they no solution has been found. She was on a IBS medicine called Linzess foe about 5 weeks prior to symptoms showing. She stopped this medicine almost 5 weeks ago and still the swelling is still present. Swelling to the lip, face throat was a rare side effect. PCP and ENT ran labs for C1 inhibitor protein but all lab work can back normal. She is scheduled to see an allergist on Wednesday but I m afraid we are not seeing the correct doctor. Any ideas what may be causing the prolonged swelling. And she has NO pain with the swelling . Thanks
* The swelling in the cheeks with lips indicate side effect with the medications which can be either mast cell IgE mediated or non-IgE mediated factors.
* C1 inhibitor protein workup is normal, but still, she requires in-depth evaluation of other immunology parameters as IgE level, absolute neutrophil, eosinophil counts, antibodies to particular antigen suspected, serum amylase and if required bone marrow biopsy as well to prove the exact cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
