Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Wrist, Fever And Redness In Lower Arms

I have deformed thumb, wrist with swelling, quite a lot of pain in wrist and up my lower arm, redness, and slight fever around the joint. Gout test is negative. RA test is negative. I have had cellulitis a year ago, but do not think this is cellulitis.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Warmth, swelling and pain of skin are typical symptoms of cellulitis. Fever may also occur with it it. So there is quite a possibility that it might be cellulitis and I advise to see you docter for assessment and management.

Arthritis may also cause painful swelling and fever but that would only involve the joint area, not the forearm.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
