Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Ankles And Feet

In the last ten days, my ankles and feet, have been swollen noticeably at bedtime. I am 74 years old, in excellent health, and have a small, one man landscaping company. I do not over do, in my opinion, my lifting, straining or exertion. I try to stay hydrated, but have not been taking any supplements or salt tablets. When I feel tired, or seem to be getting over heated, I stop, rest, and return. If I feel I am pushing it, I quit, and go home. I do not show off, the graveyard is full of friends and former associates that did that. No, I have not been to my physician as of yet. Any ideas you can suggest ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
In cases of swelling ankle and lower limb we generally investigate and rule out liver, kidney, and cardiac abnormality.
Do an ECG,stress test, echocardiography to assure cardiac health.
do LFT and renal parameters too.
review with your physician with reports.
In the meantime to relive swelling of feet, elevate your leg and do active movements of feet and ankle.
Hope this helps
