Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Left Side Of Face

I woke up this morning with the left side of my face swollen. Last night I had a headache in the left side of my face and my eye socket hurt. Now that whole side of my face hurts. We had shingles shots last Tuesday. Could this be a delayed reaction to the shot? Also, I took four amoxicillin capsules one hour prior to some dental work on Friday, as I have had two knee replacement surgeries last Yr in September. Nothing else comes to mind as a possible cause. What should I do? Am icing my face right now. I am 71yrs old. Fsakowicz@ aol.com

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain swelling on left side of face with a history of dental work can be related to it if you already had an infected tooth as reaction with a Shingles shot after almost a week is less likely to occur..
If you had a dental treatment done for any infected or decayed teeth it is possible that there is recurrence of infection and inflammation or any secondary infection in the tooth leading to pain and swelling on face..

I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and IOPAR [x ray] if required and get treated accordingly and should not be avoided as infection can further progress and lead to cellulitis and facial space infections..
As of now for pain you can take Ibuprofen, while in case of severe pain Ultram [Tramadol] or Ketorol DT can be taken..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
