Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Lips After An Injury

Hi I recently ran into a door (Friday approximately 3 a.m) and had to get stitches in my upper lip (2 hours later) 2 on the inside and 3 on the outside, I have a blot clot the size of a marble or captain crunch berry and it hurts a lot and won't go down (today is Sunday night), even though some of the swelling has please help it's very embarrassing and I look deformed and it's making me really self conscious about it so I wear a surgical face mask to hid it, I've been doing warm compressions for a day now around the clock.

Hi,

As per your complain swelling of lips after injury for which you have also got stitches and now there is sever pain and swelling. Well, due to injury there has been inflammation of the lips caused due to traumatic injury to the soft tissues of the lips and it leads to accumulation of inflammatory exudate [fluid] and cells into the area and due to inflammation there is pain and swelling. Do not lose confidence and stop feeling bad as injuries can happen to anyone and it does not need hiding as you will improve gradually.

As of now you should take care of the wounds by maintaining proper asepsis and take proper medications like antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers. Do cool compresses over the lips to reduce pain and swelling.

Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks and regards,
