Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Sir, I got into an accident on 28th of last month. I sustained injury on my right cheek. I had several stitches on the cheek. Now the injury has almost healed but still a small of the cheek is swollen and the it looks a bit blackish. Will the scar remain and will the swollen part remain the same?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling on the face Swelling usually occur on face after injury and remain for few days . But if swelling persist then it could be a hematoma which gets formed when there is blood seepage due soft tissue and blood vessel injury occur and blood get accumulated under skin and doesn't absorbed by body .
I would suggest you to give cold compresses to face 2-3 times a day and take ibuprofen(if not allergic ) or acetaminophen for pain and swelling. If condition doesn't get better in 3-4 days then consult oral/maxillofacial surgeon for proper examination. Doctor may take history ,order X-ray and CT scan to rule out other causes.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
