Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Ankle And Feet

In the past week and a half, I have noticed a unusual amount of swelling in my ankles and feet. I have had fatigue, and occasional labored breaths. I don t have any health issues that im aware of other than GERD, low thyroid and moderately high cholesterol. What could be some causes of this sudden change?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
You need to see a doctor right away. This group of symptoms, ankle swelling, shortness of breath and fatigue, could indicate a problem with your heart. This is something you want to get sorted out as soon as possible. If you develop chest pain or if the shortness of breath is severe go to emergency. If not then see your doctor soon for exam, labs and testing. In the mean time avoid all salt, processed foods, alcohol and tobacco. Keep your legs propped up above the level of your heart whenever possible to decrease the swelling. This could be very serious. Do not delay, see a doctor in the next few days.
Regards
