Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Ankle

Hello! I woke up the other morning and the bottom of my left foot was hurting. Once a i walked on it a little bit, it was like whatever was causing the pain dissolved or broke up . Now the inside of my leg, right above the ankle on the same leg is swollen and tender. Could that be a blood clot that maybe moved from my foot to my leg? I haven t hit my leg on anything so I m not sure what could have caused it. Thank you!

Hi,

You should immediately get uric acid levels tested to rule out gouty arthritis. Also complete blood count and ESR may be needed to look for inflammatory or septic arthropathies. If swelling is above the joints and up to calves or unilateral, then Doppler ultrasound to see patency of blood vessels should be done. OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful meanwhile.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
