Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was stung by a bee around 2:30 today and it is now 11:00 p.m. and it is still paining. I took allergy medication and tylenol for the pain. I was stung just below my ankle and it is swollen a bit. I just noticed that there is a red line on my foot and reaching up my leg a bit. Could this be blood poisoning?
Hi Sorry to hear you were stung by a bee.Bee sting can be very painful and the extend of the reaction to a bee sting varies from one individual to another. The majority of problems that require medical attention come from allergic reactions to the sting. In most cases, complications respond to treatment when given in time. The red line on your foot could be some reaction to the sting but you should observe for signs of severe allergy like anxiety or dizziness, skin severely itching/swelling/tingling, nausea/abdominal pain/vomiting, fast heartbeat, feeling airway is closing/difficulty breathing. If none of these, you can wait till morning to see the Doctor. You will get a booster shot of tetanus immunization if your immunization is not current. If no futher symptoms, your pain medication and antiallergic will do Hope my answer will help you Best regards
