Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Arm

My brother had a stroke recently but seemed to be improving. This am, about a month later after the stroke, we unable to waken him. His abdomen, his left arm and hand have swollen. After rushing him to the hospital we still have not been given any info as to what might be going on. He has his eyes open but does not seem to be aware of his surroundings, etc. These symptoms all occurred within the last 12 hours. Of course we are becoming anxious as to what is happening to him.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
hi
it seems he has suffered another stroke and urgent ct scan or MRI are necessary to evaluate the cuse whether fresh clot or emboli or hemorrhage has occurred to make him slip into coma. There should be EKG,echocardiogram and x ray chest to evaluate status of lungs and heart too. This is primary concern for stroke, swelling of arm and hand can be evaluated by the physician subsequently.Serum sodium, pottasium, blood gases and other tests may be needed also
best wishes
