Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Bump On The Lips

My nine year old came inside from paying outdoors and told me his lip felt numb. I brought him in light and his bottom lip near crack of mouth has a big swollen bump. Looks like a blister. I gave him allergy meds thinking may be allergic reaction to something and icing it. . Should I bring him to doctors tonight??

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swollen and painful bump on the lips which could be due minor traumatization of blood vessels which keeps on forming small spots on lips due to under skin blood accumulation. It could be due to angioedema and severe allergic reaction to allergen. It is a type of urticaria. It could be due to dehydration and stress as well. I would suggest you to apply petroleum jelly on it. You should drink plenty of water. You should take combination of levocetrizine along with Ibuprofen if it is painful . Avoid exposure to sunlight. Visit dermatologist once and get it examined. Take folic acid with vitamin b complex supplement. Start treatment after proper diagnosis. Take supplements rich in vitamin B12. You should give cold compresses to lips 2-3 times a day, take over the counter antihistamine drug like benadryl. Adrenaline injection could be one of the treatment option.
