My son has a shellfish allergy and accidentally ate a dumplings that has oyster sauce in it. He ate it at 8:00 night time and then had a swollen eyelid when he woke up the next morning at around 8 am. I gave him benadryl and it helped the swelling. gave him another dose after 4 hrs and he is now fine. he did not have any other symptoms or shortened of breath or nothing like that. just a swollen eyelid when he woke up.
Hello. If your son has an allergy then the best treatment would be to stay clear of the known allergens. Your family physician will be the best guide to help you out in that matter. The swollen eye lid can be a manifestation of something other than a plain allergic reaction. Swelling appearing the subsequent morning is a delayed reaction. Swelling in one eye is suspicious. It's better to get your child checked by a qualified ophthalmologist before self medicating. For the time being giving cold fomentation in the form of ice cube applications to the eye lid will help reduce he swelling and pain. Hope this answers your questions.
