Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Joints
Hi,My mumy age is 52.Her ESR westergren /1st hour is 28mm.All other item on my blood test seem to be within normal range.She has stiffeness and heaviness in joints and swelling above the joint area for about two weeks due to which doctor consulted her ESR test......what does the figure of ESR represent?

ESr gives an estimate of some ongoing disease /inflammation in body and gives clue if treatment is effective if decreasing trend follows treatment, so has to be repeated off andon for further evaluations.Your mother has some mild inflamed joints which is giving slight rise in ESr.anti-inflammatory medicines,physical therapy shall help reduce pain and swelling.she may apply local anti-inflammatory gels also after hot fomentation besides oral medicines
