Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Knee

Hi dr. Andrew One week before I fell in the washroom and hit my knee, I still have the swelling, I am wearing knee brace and it s helping a lot but if I remove I feel pain. I consulted some Drs here but i have not received satisfactory answer. Need your help dr.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The persisting pain may be due to trauma to the bones or soft tissue of the knee. An xray would be able to determine if there is any underlying bony injury causing pain but more in depth imaging such as MRI would be needed if a soft tissue ligament injury is suspected.

Using anti inflammatory pain killers would help with the pain eg ibuprofen, naproxen, voltaren

These are over the counter medication.
