my boyfriend is 30 years old in great health he does smoke cigarettes and drink but other than that he is a very healthy man. he noticed a swell on his penis. it seems to be a vein on the shaft of his penis and on one end it has a little ball. he said it hurt a lot when he first noticed it but the pain has almost gone away. what could it possibly be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

It must be an injury caused either due to aggressive intercourse or masturbation, I recommend resting the region and avoid all sexual contact and masturbation for at least the next 2 weeks. Keep the region clean and dry at all times, and apply a warm compress over the region several times a day to promote healing. Wear loose comfortable inner wear, and avoid tight fitted clothes (E.g. jeans).

Best wishes.
