Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Painful Throat

Hello, Dr., My name is Victoria, I am 56 yrs. old. I recently discovered a slight swelling at the base of my throat on the right hand side near the clavical bone. I feel well and strong. Have plenty of energy. I do not have a history of any thyroid disorder. Family history only has one cousin with a history of thyroid issues. I have a slight sore throat but I am in school and exposed to many students with colds/flu. Should I be concerned? Thank you

Hi,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
This could be due to upper respiratory tract infection.

I recommend the following.

1) A course of antibiotics.
2) Analgesic like tablet paracetamol for pain relief.
3) Salt water gargling. Add a pinch of salt to a glass of warm water.

You will be fine.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any questions, I am happy to help.
Wish you a good health and speedy recovery.
Regards,
