Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a cut on my left tonsil. I know it s not one of those crypts because I felt very sharp pain when I first found it and it was bleeding a little at first. The wound is still there after 3 weeks and it literally looks as if my tonsil has been cut by a knife. Also (probably because of the cut) my left tonsil is slightly swollen in a weird shape. Although my throat feels completely normal when eating/drinking, sometimes at late night or in the morning, I experience mild pain on the left side of my throat when swallowing saliva. (Swallowing food or liquid does not cause pain.) What could be the possible cause and what should I do to heal the wound as quickly as possible? Could the swollen tonsil and the wound that hasn t gone away for weeks be signs of infection?
