Suggest Treatment For Swollen And Red Lesion On Hand Post Injury

Hi I was going through some old some boxes and while doing so I got stabbed with safety pin right in my vein in my wrist. It bled at first then stopped. Now almost 2 hours later is very puffy, swollen, red, slightly black and blue, and it is sore. Also not sure if this is associated with that or not but on the same arm on the inside of my elbow I have little red dots almost like what you would find in a hickie.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This is due to the trauma. It will certainly take time to heal on itself. Firstly take a tetanus toxoid injection to prevent sepsis if not given recently. Take analgesic like paracetamol to relieve pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Suhas Chauhan
