Suggest Treatment For Swollen Black Blue Left Foot After Injury
I fell downstairs and have hurt left foot. Xrays show no break but foot very swollen and black and blue. Ligament damage. I have to fly to Europe from LA next Monday. I m wearing a boot and foot is strapped in elastic bandage. Is it ok to fly? I m female, 61 , 5 10 and 156lbs
You fell and have hurt your left foot. You had your X-ray done and it did not show any fracture. Your foot is swollen and blue. You have injured your ligament / tendon, it may take a few weeks to heal, you should be at rest. Your foot is strapped in elastic bandage. Partial immobilization will help to relieve the discomfort. You are suggested to keep the leg elevated to avoid swelling to prevent increase of pain and discomfort.
You are suggested to get clinically examined by an orthopedist, get proper management done before you fly. Flying with the said type of injury will cause discomfort. Your foot is swollen and black-blue due to blood clots under your skin. You can apply Ointment Thrombophob on the affected area for relief.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
