Suggest Treatment For Swollen Boil Along With Bleeding
Hi.. I had a small heat boil which soon became little big , I consulted a GP and i m on oral antibiotics, but the boil has broken and there is a thick absscess around it ... It only bleeds i don t see any pus. What ointment should i use. will this require surgical nick?
The medication you are consuming is an antibiotic and there is no need to apply any ointment at the site. If the boil is discharging then it means the mouth of the boil is open. You would need a surgical nick only if the pus inside doesn't drain. I would advise you to keep the area open and not cover up with bandage or plaster so that the drainage continues. If its discharging blood then pus also would come out with it which may not be visible unless its huge in quantity.
You can also squeeze the area gently to squeeze out the pus. You need to do it gently so that it causes tolerable pain only. If the mouth of the boil closes before the area drains out pus then you may need a surgical nick and not otherwise.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
