Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Suggest Treatment For Swollen Bruised Superior Medial Area Of Gastrocnemius Muscle
i fell and bruised the superior media area of my gastrocnemius about 3 hours ago. The injured area is swollen to the point of being hard, and is slightly cool to the touch. There is minimal pain involved and all motion is present. Do I have much chance of an thromboembolus forming and causing damage.
The bruised area is due to bleeding under the skin or soft tissue and I don't see any risk of thromboembolism in your case. Please apply cold compress over the area to reduce the inflammation (swelling/redness etc.). Also, keep the area elevated from rest of the level of body. You can take Tab paracetamol to reduce the pain and inflammation. The pain will slowly disappear in a few days time.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
