Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, about a month ago I woke up with a swollen eyelid so as a result I applied stye eye ointment from cvs and soon after a head with pus developed and soon after that the eyelid seemed to be returning to normal except that it really never returned to normal in that the left upper lacrimal punctum is white and it is a bit swollen as well. I have tried warm compresses, terramycin b and chloramphenicol 1% ointments to no improvement? The punctum is still white in color and there is slight swelling around the punctum? Side note: the night before I woke up with swollen eyelid I had been cleaning aquarium and probably rubbed my eyes with dirty hands. Do I have a parasite in the eyelid? Or do I have some type of resistant bacteria since the above ointments did not work? Or some type of fungi? I have also been using saline solution daily to clean my eyes to no avail with respect to the upper lacrimal punctum.
