Suggest Treatment For Swollen Feet And Thighs After An Injury

We were involved in a car accident back in December. My son weighs 327 lbs. Since the accident the normal swelling of his feet and thighs have been 10 times worse. The pain, is so bad. My son had surgery on his neck (disks) 3 weeks ago in which his O2 levels after surgery were slightly below 90. This past Weds. he had back surgery on his herniated disks in which while under the anesthetic he had a asthma attack and they had to stabilize and then continued the surgery. This was out patient surgery. The next afternoon his chest sounded like it had fluid in this lungs. We took him to the ER and they said that they did not understand why his doctor did the 2nd surgery so soon. He was admitted and is still in the hospital where they are treating him for asthma caused by the surgery.... He legs are swollen more now than ever. Originally they called it edema now they say pitted edema. Why is this happening? Any advice.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to fracture.

For further assessment you may require X Ray after orthopedician consultation.

Further treatment mainly depends upon the underlying condition.

Restrict your movements.

For pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Use support while walking

Hope I have answered your query and let me know if I can assist you further.
