Suggest Treatment For Swollen Foot Post Injury

Almost a week and a half ago, I accidentally dropped a kettle of boiling water on my foot and got a second degree burn. I went to the ER. They gave me silver sulfadiazene, which I ve been using every day. They also gave me Tramadol which just made me want to throw up. I ve been taking Ibuprofin, and that s helped a little bit. However, my foot is still swollen, and while it doesn t hurt as much to walk, I can t stand in one spot for more than a minute. I m wondering if this is normal for this type of injury or if I might have done something else to my foot.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to HCM.
I understood your concern.
One and a half week is enough time to take over an infection, but in dependent areas like foot in your case back pressure is more and there is edema which results in swelling and hamper healing process. So try to keep the leg raised from your body level, it will help in reducing swelling as well as infection.
I think this might be of some help, if you have any queries feel free to ask.
Thanks
