Suggest Treatment For Swollen Hand After Bitten By An Insect
I was stung by what I believe was a hornet or some other bee (several stings on my hand while weeding) nearly two weeks ago. My hand swelled up where I was stung but was much better in about 2 days (just some residual itching). Over the past week, a number of other rashes (or hives) have developed on my arm and leg - itchy and annoying, but otherwise I feel fine. Could this be a delayed reaction to the bee stings? Thank you.
A sting or bite of insect injects venom composed of proteins and other substances that may trigger an allergic reaction. The sting also causes redness and swelling at the site of the sting. 1. Cold fomentation with ice pack 5 – 6 times daily 2. Do not scratch the area as it will cause skin damage and infection 3. You can apply calamine lotion for itching 4. Levocetrizine 5 mg per oral once daily for 10 days 5. Dexamethasone 0.5 mg twice daily per oral for 10 days 6. Ibuprofen 600 mg thrice daily if pain occurs. Otherwise avoid it 7. Immediately go to hospital if you have any sign of anaphylaxis such as breathing difficulty, low blood pressure, nausea/vomiting, throat constriction, unconsciousness etc Thanks
