Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I fell injured my leg. Had stays no broken bones. Leg is very swollen from knee down leg and foot. It is now very black and blue. Happened 2 days ago. . Nurse practitioner said to take tylenol, there is sting/burning in the area where I hit on my leg. Shouldn t I be taking ibuprofen?
After going through your case it seems you are having a inflammatory response to a injury, which is natural response of the body. I would recommend 1. Give a rest to the leg to fasten recovery 2. While lying down keep your leg bit higher to your body by a pillow below it, to reduce the swelling. 3. Start on anti inflammatory like serratio peptidase and analgesic paracetamol 4. You can do hot fomentation for soothing and early recovery. 5.Blue discolouration is not a worry it will disappear in a fort night.
Hope It helps Get well soon. Regards
