swelling of one or two legs in your mothers' case warrants that recurrence of her disease in the abdomen be ruled out. It is quite common in advanced stage cervical cancer for the disease to recur, particularly since the treatment was suboptimal (no chemo was taken). It comes in the form of nodes in the abdomen which press on the veins draining the legs leading to swelling of the same. A CT scan of the whole abdomen will give the correct picture.
