Suggest Treatment For Swollen Legs And High BP

I have blood pressure for many years. Recently my doctor changed my medications from Cozaar, Tenormin,(25mg) and Norvasc (5mg) to Bystolic (20mg) and Cozaar (100mg) . I was complaining of swollen legs. Since then, over a month, my blood pressure readings went from 130/75 to 168/90. Is the Bystolic not indicated for me? nadia bogosian

You have been taken off from Tenormin (atenolol) and Norvasc (amlodipine) and continued with Cozaar (Losartan) with addition of Bystolic (nebivolol). Amlodipine might have caused swollen legs. That is the reason it was stopped. Bystolic and Tenormin should not be given together as they are almost similar drugs.
I would have adjusted the dose of Cozaar and Bystolic to aim for a diastolic blood pressure around 80 mm of Hg. Hope the titration of dose will address your blood pressure issues.
