Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a 26 yr old female. I used to smoke and quit a year ago because my lymph node on one side of my neck swelled and I couldn t swallow. This went away about 3 months after I quit. I smoked a few cigarettes 5 days ago and my lymph node that used to swell is hard and I can t swallow. I Wont smoke again, but should I wait for this to go away again and move on....or should I get it checked when its swollen. Could cancer swell when smoking and then decrease after I quit? Or is it probably an infection from smoking if it goes away someday.
Best thing would be to get an FNAC done of the lymph node. FNAC means that the doctor would put a needle in the hard swelling and aspirate. Based on the cell morphology , the result would decide further course of action.
