Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Nodes In Neck And Headaches
It didn t give me a question prompt! Heres my question. Her left, neck lymphnode swelled very large. She also had a headache and slight rib cage pain. They put her on Amoxicillin 24 hours ago, but after 1 pill she was horribly sick. They had her switch to cephalexin, but wait till the next morning to start. Now her other gland is visibly swollen and she has a 101 fever. No other symptoms. What could this be?
Swollen neck lymph nodes are almost always a sign of infection major or minor. The following are few causes: 1) Streptococcal throat infection, acute sinusitis 2) Ear infections 3) Infected tooth or abscess 4) Skin infections 5) Infectious mononucleosis 6) Malaria 7) Tuberculosis 8) Toxoplasmosis 9) Lupus 10) Rheumatoid arthritis 11) Lymphoma 12) Leukemia
In all the above conditions, lymph nodes get swollen and in some fever too. Only with thorough history taking, detailed clinical examination, we can arrive at a specific diagnosis and initiate appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
