Suggest Treatment For Swollen Painful Tongue

I had bitten my tongue and it caused a huge blood clot. I popped it with a sewing needle (I sterilized it) and the blood was drained. It seemed better at first but now 2 days later you can see where the tongue skin peeled back where blood released and my tongue is very swollen. It hurts to drink hot fluids and eating is difficult. I have been rinsing with salt water but not sure if I see a doctor. Help me! thank you
