Suggest Treatment For Swollen, Purple Hand Post Fracture In Wrist

My 78 year old mother in law fell and broke her humorous and wrist on the left side last week. She has an appointment tomorrow with an orthopedic, and is currently in a sling and a wrist splint. I am very concerned because I just went over and her hand is incredibly swollen and purple. It has been 6 days since the break, it is a spiral fracture. I told her I think she should elevate it but she things she needs to keep it low. What is the best course of action?

Hi I did review your concern
My advice would be to immediately consult a near by doctor and open the splint
The swollen and purple limb can be due to compression by sling or edema around the limb due to oozing of fluid. An urgent surgery may be needed to save the limb.
I hope this helps. please go and see the doctor immediately
Wish you all the best.
