Suggest Treatment For Swollen Red Eyes

I went to my Dr. the other day with upper respiratory symptoms, plus my eyes were swollen and red. She told me this was allergies and prescribed eye drops by the name of Patanol. I used them yesterday and today and my eyes are worse, inflamed, some pain, and feels like there is something in my eyes. Should I stop them?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

I doubt this has to do with what your doctor has suspected and this sounds more like either an allergic reaction requiring anti-histamine medications or an infection. You can choose to stop the drops if you think it is making things worse. Please re-visit your doctor or another one for a more elaborate evaluation.

Best wishes
