Swollen Tonsils? My friend has what appears to be swollen tonsils. Basically they are resting on the back of his tongue, impeding his speech and ability to swallow. I'm searched several medical blogs which suggest this could be caused by excess bacteria or from having a cold. I have had this happen to me a couple times but in both instances, I had an obvious cold. My friend has no cold symptoms at this time. What is this and what can be done to address it?
Swollen tonsils can be due to an acute infection like cold or due to a chronic infection , in which there will be no fever but difficulty in swallowing as in your friend. There can be other causes also like lymphomas , but this is very rare.I would like you to ask your friend to meet an ent doctor as soon as possible to confirm he cause for the enlargement and treat him accordingly. Please dont delay.
Thanks
