Suggest Treatment For Swollen Wrists And Pain In The Hand

Hi, my 90 year old father is currently getting chemo and the just just received his second injection of Procrit last Wednesday. He is currently complaining his right wrist is swollen and having pain in his hand. Possible side affect of the Procrit? Can this problem wait until Monday? Thanks for any help, Tim Hendrix

Hello,

Swelling in the wrist & pain in the hand is due to the side effect of Procrit. You should get into contact with the treating doctor for it may spread to the ankles, feet, legs or face. It may complicate with other symptoms(anxiety, light headedness, anxiety, etc) as well.

The dose & symptoms of the side effects should be monitored before the situation gets worse. The patient needs to be under observation.
