Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Schizoid Personality Disorder
I seem to have all of the symptoms of Schizoid Personality disorder however I am hesitant to jump to such a conclusion; I v been called a psychopath and a narcissist by close members of my family. My tendencies do tend to interfere with my interpersonal relationships and make it rather difficult to interact in a way that is meaningful for others. I m very curious to know if this is the issue. Is there a way to find out if this could be the problem, preferably other than being questioned by psychiatrist in person?
A schizoid personality disorder is a personality disorder characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency towards a solitary or sheltered lifestyle, secretiveness, emotional coldness, detachment and apathy.
Therapy and medication, such as antidepressants or mood stabilizers, can only help. Therefore I suggest consulting a psychiatrist and psychotherapist for physical examination, diagnosis and treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. K. V. Anand, Psychologist
