Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking Flecainide for a few months and it has helped to control my tachycardia. I forgot to take it for several days and had NO issue, no fluttering/skipping/racing. I just started taking it again, and I ve had terrible symptoms all day. While on the meds, my symptoms were well controlled. Could the fact that I didn t take it for a few days be causing me the problems I m having now, being back on it for the last 2 days?
You will benefit from Psychological assessment and assistance
A normal ECHO is reassuring indeed / it has ruled out valve, wall problems; shows good function… Get investigated for Thyroid – over activity can be a cause The normal range of heart beats is from 60 to 100 / you are still in range If you are worried, a TMT (Treadmill Exercise-Stress ECG) can exclude ischemic heart disease. More to exclude rather than entertain the problem – to help one to relax
If there are no clues and if the problem is still bothering to the extent of interfering with lifestyle, we may opt for more investigations of increasing complexity – Electro Physiological Studies (EPS) > it resembles angio – a catheter is put inside the heart/electrical activity recorded / stimulation and suppression tests are carried out / suitable medicine tested and so on. There are other advanced treatment modalities - like ablation (thermal or radio-frequency), which could be done during EPS. Though the test is the gold standard, it is invasive and hence is not generally done unless there are compelling indications. This super-speciality expert is called electro-Physiologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
